FAMILY OF JOHN BUSH JR AND LUCINDA WINZER

John Bush Jr was born January 12, 1827 in Edgefield District SC to John Bush Sr and
Frances Johnson. John moved with his father and mother from Stewart Co Ga to Russell
Co AL around 1845. From Russell Co they moved to Barbour Co, Dale Co and finally
settled in Butler Co AL. around 1855. The first you find of the Bush family in Butler Co
is on the Rolls of the Mt Olive East Baptist Church. Included in the membership of the
Mt Olive East Baptist Church is John's uncle, William Prescott Bush Jr and his wife
Charlotte and their children along with John's brother William P and his wife Elizabeth
Turner, John's sister Elcy Ann and her husband William D Turner , John's brother
Richard Hinds and his wife Nancy Parker and their younger brother Silas. By the year
1870 John and his brothers had settled in the Springhill and Deadfall areas of Butler Co.
 

Around 1850-56 John went back to Stewart Co Ga and married his cousin, Lucinda
Winzer, the daughter of his father's Sister Falby Bush Winzer and John Winzer. They
married January 1857. Lucinda was born in Stewart Co Ga on January 30, 1834 and
died September 21, 1883 in Butler Co AL. According to her obituary she was a member
of the Missionary Baptist Church and it is believed she is buried in the family plot at
Ft Dale Cemetery. John later married Mary Ann Travis on February 3, 1884. Mary Ann
was born October 1852 in Alabama.
 

John passed away March 8, 1911 at his son-in-law, Frank Rogers's home. According to
his death certificate he died from invalidity. John was 84 years old when he passed away
and is buried in the Bush family plot at Ft Dale Cemetery.

2. Frances Katherine Bush was born December 10, 1859 in Butler Co AL and died
February 27, 1908 and is buried in Ft Dale Cemetery. Katherine married Francis
Millard Rogers at the home of her father on December 10, 1878. The Reverend
E.D. Norris married them. Frank was born March 31, 1857 in Butler Co AL and
died January 23, 1946 and is buried in Ft Dale Cemetery. He is the son of Joseph
Rogers and Cornelia Routon. After Katherine died Frank married Mary Elizabeth
Gafford.

3. John Henry Bush was born abt 1863 in Butler Co Al and died around 1898. He
married Mary "Mollie" Frances Shanks on October 18, 1883 in Butler Co Al. She
was born August 6, 1866 and died August 27, 1941 and is believed to buried in
Dallas Co. She was the daughter of William Asbury Shanks and Frances Jane
Edwards. Mollie married George Albert Goodwin on Jan 8, 1902.

4. Samuel Bush was born abt 1867 in Butler Co Al and died abt 1908 in Crenshaw Co.
It is believed that he is buried in Black Rock cemetery. Samuel married (1) Amanda
Givens in Henry Co Al on December 1, 1889. He married (2) Frances Conway on
November 27, 1904 in Honoraville, Crenshaw Co AL. Fannie was the daughter of
Lee Royal Conway and Mary Thomas.

5. Anna Bush was born August 1870 in Butler Co Al and died 1901 and is buried at
the Ft Dale Cemetery. She married Joseph Burkhaults on December 12, 1889. Joseph
was born Dec 1870. His parents were George and Martha Burkhaults. Joseph
moved to Derida, Louisiana when Anna died.

6. Lula Bush was born May 1874 in Butler Co Al and died March 17, 1916. She married
John Watts Rogers on January 5, 1898. John was born April 1877 in Butler Co Al
and died abt 1820. John was the son of Joseph Rogers and Cornelia Routon and
brother to Frank Rogers who married Lula's sister Katherine.

12. Mary Elizabeth "Bettie" Rogers was born September 21, 1879 in Deadfall and died May
14,1914 and is buried in the Ft Dale Cemetery. She married William Clayton "Clate" Shanks
on November 4, 1896. Clate is the son of William Asbury Shanks and Frances Jane Edwards,
he is also the brother of Mollie Shanks Bush. He was born November 6, 1869 and died January
23, 1958 and is buried in Ft Dale Cemetery.

Elizabeth "Betty" Hinton.

17. Mamie Lucinda Rogers was born January 23, 1889 in Deadfall Butler Co Al and
died April 12, 1911 and is buried in Ft Dale cemetery. She married Asa (Acy) Shanks
October 6, 1909. Asa was born 1885. Asa married (2) Nannie B Coker August 9, 1911,
daughter of Eugene Coker and Nannie Bargainer.

18. Maggie Lee Rogers was born March 6, 1891 and died May 15, 1911 and is buried
in Ft Dale cemetery. She married Thomas Jackson "Jack" Coker on April 14, 1909.
Jack was born September 8, 1887 and died February 5, 1920 and is buried in Ft Dale
cemetery. His parents were Thomas Coker and Frances Goodwin.

23. Winburn A Bush was born September 13, 1884 and died August 2, 1974 in Red Level,
Covington Co AL. He is buried in the Fairmont cemetery in Andulusia. He married (1)
Fannie Jim Cheatham she was born Sept 17, 1887 and died Oct 1981 and is buried in
Greenwood cemetery in Montgomery, AL. Fannie's parents were the Reverend
Edward Peyton Cheatham and Mollie Black of the Liberty Community and later
Greenville. Rev Ed Cheatham was the minister for Liberty Methodist Church. They
started their marriage in Manningham in one off the rental houses belonging to her
father; from there they moved to Brewton; where Winburn worked at a Lumber Mill. Winburn and Fannie owned three different grocery stores in Montgomery during
their marriage and while Fannie operated the grocery stores, Winburn worked for
the Power Company as a streetcar conductor for eighteen years in the City of
Montgomery. Their last home together was on the corner of Union and Jefferson
St and is now part of the Old Town Historical District on Hull St and is called the
Bush Cottage. Winburn and Fannie had 6 children, their first child Mollie
Jewell died young and is buried in the Liberty Methodist cemetery. Winburn
married (2) Stella Doris Nichols of Brushy Creek.

24. Lafayette "Fate" Bush was born December 25, 1887 and died June 4, 1944. Fate
married Mary Lou Coker on December 24,910, she is the daughter of Eugene
Coker and Nannie Bargainer. She was born December 18, 1891 and died October
16, 1952. According to the family Fate was coming in from the fields and a snake
ran in front of the horses and caused the wagon to overturn throwing Fate from
the wagon. He died the next day from a stomach hemorrhage. Both Fate and Mary
Lou are buried at the Little Brown Church cemetery. They were blessed with seven children.

25. Fannie Lou Bush was the only girl born to Henry and Mollie; she was born
September 26, 1889 and died January 31, 1971. She married Oscar W Chambliss of Chapman, AL on November 5, 1921. His parents were John Chambliss and Mary
Pratt, he was born October 22, 1881 and died January 25, 1955. Fannie and Oscar
are buried in the Hopewell Church cemetery in Chapman.
 

26. Amos Bush was born April 1892 in Butler Co and died July 26, 1918 in France.
Amos was a Corporal in the U S Army during WWI, he was in the 167th Infantry
Regiment, 42nd Infantry Division. He was killed in the trenches of France and is
buried in the Oise-Aisne American Cemetery in Fere-en-Tardenois, France. He is
interned in Plot B, Row 20, Grave 12.
 

28. John Wesley Bush was born 1897 and died December 25, 1934 of Tuberculosis.
John married Effie Salyer at his uncle's house, Frank M Rogers, on April 14, 1921.
John served in WWI, he was a Sergeant in the 167th Infantry, 42nd Division. In 1930
he was a Taxi driver for a Transfer Company in Montgomery, AL. John and Effie
had three children and he is buried in the Liberty Methodist Church Cemetery in
Butler Co.
