The families of the children of Daniel Cheatham and Elizabeth Hetty Reddock will be given in this chapter. Daniel Cheatham was the seventh child born to Guttridge and Elizabeth Cheatham.

7.Daniel H. Cheatham b.c. 1810, married Elizabeth Hetty Reddockb.c. 1808 whowas a daughter of Alexander and Hetty Reddock, and they lived near Reddock Springs.Elizabeth died early in the year 1872 from gangrene in a broken leg. Daniel H. Cheatham, Sr. m. 2nd Elizabeth Martin on 10/18/1872.It is reported that Daniel's children did not approve of this marriage.Elizabeth Hetty was buried in the Reddock Family Cemetery and Daniel was also but not beside her.Elizabeth Martin and Daniel had no children.Daniel Cheatham d. 6/23/1883 and was buried in the Reddock Cemetery.His son Daniel H., Jr. was buried beside him.Daniel H. Cheatham purchased land in Sections 4 and 5 of Township 11 N and Range 15 E in 1837 and 1838 from the U.S. Land Office.This was about a mile from his parents, Guttridge and Elizabeth Cheatham.In 1854 and 1858 he purchased land in Sections 19 and 20 of Township 10 N and Range 14 E from the U. S. Land Office.The children of Daniel and Elizabeth Reddock were:

  1. 1. William Alexander Peyton Cheatham. m. Susan A. Armstrong b. March 1828 on 12/18/1850. Susan was a daughter of Charley and Amanda Armstrong, see Armstrong Family. William died 4/13/1865 during the Civil War as a prisoner of War at Camp Douglas, Chicago, Ill. William joined 17th Inf Reg Co C and was taken prisoner during the Battle of Nashville, Dec 14, 15, 1864. Their children were:
  1. 1. 1. Marion Erastus Cheatham b. 9/2/1851, d. 10/17/1851 and buried in Reddock Cemetery.
  1. 1. 2. George Daniel Cheatham b. 10/14/1854 and m. Mary Jane Colley. She died in childbirth and place of burial is unknown. There is a G. D. Cheatham who m. Anna Rogers on 11/19/1875. It is reported that he went to Texas.
7.1.3.Eldridge Wm. Alexander b. 4/1/1856, d. 12/10/1927, and m. Laura Elizabeth Henderson (b. Oct. 1853 & d. 3/21/1941 age 90) on 12/10/1874, a daughter of James and Mary Houston Henderson.Their children were:
  1. 1. 3. 1. Lula Abigail Cheatham b. 9/9/1875, d. 12/29/196 , m. William Frank Colley, b. 12/28/1856, d. 7/11/1915, William m. 1st Missouri Brooks, b. 3/29/1860, d. 1/24/1900 and all are buried at Liberty Methodist Church.
  1. 1. 3. 2. Jesse Cheatham b. 3/21/1883, m. Bertha Elizabeth Seale on 8/29/1918, daughter of Ransom Seale, Jr. and Mary Amanda Hartsfield. Jesse Cheatham was Tax Collector of Butler County. See the Seale Family.

7.1.3.4.Samuel Houston Cheatham b. 9/30/1884, d. 1/17/1956, m. Nellie Boutwell who was a daughter of Tobe Boutwell and Minnie Hendrix, b. 8/26/1886, d. 7/9/1955 and buried in Magnolia Cemetery.In 1910 Samuel and Nellie had two children.
  1. 1. 3. 5. Georgia Corrinne Cheatham b. 9/13/1890, d. 1/13/1936, buried at Liberty Methodist Church and never married.
  1. 1. 4. Edward Peyton b. 10/28/1858, d. 2/27/1941, Edward was a Methodist Minister and m. Mary Haseltine Black, b. Nov. 1862, on 10/21/1880. She died 12/9/1937 and their children were:
  1. 1. 4. 1. Edward Lorenza Cheatham b. 8/3/1882, d. 8/24/1962, m. Iona May Grant (dau. of H. H. Grant), b. 9/26/1884, d. 5/15/1955, buried at Liberty Methodist Church and they had one child.

Cheatham born 1833 and married Susan Henderson on 9/5/1861, a daughter of James and Mary Houston Henderson. Mary Houston was said to be a cousin of Sam Houston of Texas. Witness by James S. Cheatham and James Henderson. James S. Cheatham was a member of Co. C 33rd Alabama Inf. and was killed 4/8/1863 and is buried in Chattanooga, Tennesee. James and Susan had one daughter, Ida James. Susan then married Henry Oliver Seale. See the Seale Family. The only child of James S. Cheatham was:

Deed Book B, pages 84, 85, 86, and 87, Butler Co., Greenville, Alabama.Daniel H. Cheatham to his daughter Sarah Ann S. Barganier and her husband Lawson Barganier both of Lowndes Co. have loan and delivered a negro girl named Dinah about 10 years old.March 4, 1854.
