Elijah Allen was born 14 March 1852 in Butler Co., AL.  He died 7 March 1907 in Conecuh Co., AL.  His wife was Emma M Smith, b 14 Aug 1854 and d. 27 Dec 1928 in Conecuh Co.  They are both buried in Buffington Cemetery.  They are beside George Washington Martin and his wife Eveline Butler, who were also from Butler county.  Elijah's mother was Susan Martin.  Susan delivered all of Elijah and Emma's children according to Conecuh Co. birth records.  I believe it was the birth records that stated they were from Butler Co.

In 1850, A W and Susan Martin are listed in Butler county with their children.  In 1860, S. Martin is listed with her children but they only listed first initials.  Allen E and Emma Martin show up in the 1900 Conecuh Co. census.

There is a woman named Susan Martin in the 1880 Butler Co. census with 2 children.  She is the right age but is not related to my family as far as I can tell.  Marriage records indicate that her name is Susan Catherine Martin and can be located in Mississippi during years in which my Susan Martin is already accounted for.  Unfortunately, I can't locate the family during 1870 or 1880.  Emma Smith Martin had a child in 1881 in Bluff Springs, FL. Susan delivered him, so she was still alive then.  She is presumably buried in Buffington Cem. as well.
