Above:  John Green Grace and Anzonetta Violonia Bennett Grace, parents of Thomas Columbus (Lum) Grace.  John and Nettie lived in the Garland area until their death.  Nettie was the daughter of Thomas Bradley Bennett and Caroline Crancy Bennett.   (See her family below)  All were from Butler and Conecuh counties, Alabama.

Right:  John Green Grace (right) and his younger brother Kenchin Columbus Grace (left), both buried in Mt Olive Cemetery in Grace/Garland, Butler County, Alabama, were the last children born to Christopher Columbus Grace and Gatsey S. Page Grace.     See Page family photos

Thomas Columbus (Lum) Grace with cross cut saw.   Son of John Green Grace and Nettie Bennett Grace of Butler County, Alabama, Lum worked for the W. T. Smith Lumber Company at Chapman, Alabama. Thomas Columbus Grace and wife Catherine Melissa Page Grace;  1st son, Zell Bradley Grace, standing in front;  2nd son, John Elmo, in father's lap;  3rd son, Estle Barto, in mother's arms.  Picture made early 1902.

Zell Bradley Grace, born April 2, 1899 (named for Thomas Bradley Bennett, his great-grandfather); 
John Elmo Grace, born May 9, 1900 (named for John Green Grace, his grandfather); 
Estle Barto Grace, born October 1, 1901;  
and seated in rocker, Curtis Murihugh Grace, born January 10, 1903, died July 24, 1904.

Mattie Mae (Mat) Grace, daughter of Thomas Columbus Grace and Catherine Melissa Page Grace.  Mat was born November 25, 1912 and died March 11, 1937 in Loree, near Evergreen, Alabama.  She had a defective heart valve. Thomas Wilton Grace and younger brother Henry Clanton (Dude) Grace cutting wood.  They are the sons of Thomas Columbus and Catherine Melissa (Cattie) Page Grace.  Chores were a common thing for children on the farm.

Family picture of Catherine Melissa Page Grace and her children.  Photo was made summer of 1952 -1953, Benions Pool near Castleberry, Conecuh County, Alabama.  Grace Family Reunion.  John Elmo Grace, Katie Lou Grace, Zell Bradley Grace, Catherine Melissa Page Grace (wife of Thomas Columbus Grace), Thomas Wilton Grace, Henry Clanton Grace, Glenn Edward and Estle Barto Grace.  Not pictured were Elrid Jackson Grace (not attending) and Mattie Mae Grace (had already died).

This is the Family of Thomas Bradley Bennett.  He is in the front row seated in a chair next to his second wife.  His daughter Anzonetta Violonia (Nettie) Bennett Grace, dark dress, is standing behind her stepmother, older lady Adeline Keebler Bennett, seated in chair in front row.  Nettie is the wife of John Green Grace, standing behind her.  He is the 7th man from the right to left and is the son of Christopher Columbus Grace and Gatsey S. Page Grace, and grandson of James B. Grace and Nancy Jane Betts Grace.

Lady holding baby with hand on stroller and 3 boys to her right shoulder is Catherine Melissa Page Grace.  Baby is Katie Lou Grace.  Boy in stroller is Elrid Jackson Grace.  Boys standing, right to left, are: Zell Bradley Grace, Estle Barto Grace and John Elmo Grace.  Thomas Columbus Grace is 5th man from right to left on back row.  This picture was made Spring of 1907 as best we can tell from birthdates and ages of the children.    More Bennett photos
