Dr U H Shine
Dear Bro
I had just got to a closing point and arisen to sing the long-meeter doxology and dismiss all hope
of ever again hearing from you, personally. It was almost like having a hearing from the dead
the first line we've had from you in something less than 7 years. My Joy was beyon expression.
I had to cry over your letter a little. (Shine failing you know) and then your good fortune of
having a nice new boy baby and all doing well. How I wish 'twas I. Can't you bring him to
me. Please Call him Henry Bascomb, for his uncle H. You can never know how much we miss
our dear little Nettie, the sunshine of our home but then tis all well. God gave and God hath taken
her away. What a blessed thought that we are the parents of angels. We have four little darlings
laid away at the chapel

soon be down they have three nice looking children.
Buddie & family will probably spend next week with me as court is in session and Buddie is
on the 3rd weeks petit Jury. He (Buddie) has been licensed to preach. he is a good boy.
They are killing hogs at Pa's Plenty of new hog & turnip. there Augustus is at home going to
school. Old O K S is on a boon. Splendid school taught by Prof. George Thigpen.
You very kindly ask after our darling little Floy. His condition is much improved. Since first
of Oct. he has not been attacked. He is now at Ma's has been there a week. Will come back with
Buddie & family. I want to tell you a great deal

and am awful glad that you think of coming to see us. I have been trying to see an
opportunity to visit you for three years but none in sight. I cry often when I think how little
it was my privalidge to be with your interesting little ones when here. I have a decidedly
better opinion of Texas since I saw your children Now dear Bro, do please come home this winter.
I think that your coming will in a degree affiliate aleviate the sorrows we have all
had this year Ma has been in a manner crazy at one time and no mistake and her terible grief was
sufficient to addle the brain of one

please write. right away and let me know when you are coming. I'm betting big on you.
Give my love to Loduska & the boy. I do hope they will get on all right. Tell the
children that Aunt Suber has very pleasant recollections of them. and hopes some day to be able to give them a
better opinion of herself than what their last visit to Ala. must have received.
Lovingly your Sister Zou
I have written very hurriedly & have made many mistake please correct them as you read.
