Mrs R E Kern was given a pleasant surprise Tuesday afternoon when a birthday party was given her at the home of Mr J S Kern.  She had reached her eighty-fourth mile stone, and each year has endered (sic) herself more closely to her children, grandchildren and friends. Her sunny nature and deeply religious life are an influence for good.

Each Sunday Mrs Kern is in her accustomed place at Sunday School, in the matron's class taught by Mrs M C Kendrick. This class and her daughters and daughters-in-law were guests Tuesday afternoon, each one expressing a wish for continued happiness and contentment for Mrs. Kern.

Old time music was contributed by the guests and a tempting salad course was served, the afternoon passing pleasantly to all.
