1.  GOTTLIEB2 STABLER  (CHRISTIAN1) was born January 09, 1731/32 in Freudenstein, Wurtemburg, Germany, and died in Beaver Creek, SC.  He married ANNA BARBARA ZEIGLER July 12, 1757 in Orangeburg, SC, daughter of DAVID ZEIGLER.  She was born March 27, 1733 in Siestadt, Wuertemburg, Germany, and died in Beaver Creek, SC.

 

Notes for GOTTLIEB STABLER:

Gottlieb came to America and received a land grant of 50 acres from the King of England on August 30, 1756 in Saxegotha Township near Orangeburg, SC.  He received a land grant of 200 acres in the area of Orangeburg in 1774.  He supported the revolution by selling horses to the militia.

20.  JAMES LEMUEL5 STABLER (ANDREW4, JOHN GEORGE3, GOTTLIEB2, CHRISTIAN1) was born Abt. 1830 in South Carolina, and died Abt. 1856 in Lowndes Co., AL.  He married LOUISIA MANNING Abt. 1850 in Lowndes Co., AL, daughter of JOHN MANNING.  She was born Abt. 1828 in Lowndes Co., AL, and died 1884 in Lowndes Co., AL.

 

Notes for JAMES LEMUEL STABLER:

James Lemuel was born abt. 1830 in SC.  He could have been in AL as early as 1840, living with his Uncle, William Warren Gramling.  He is not listed on the Lowndes census by name until 1850.  He and Louisia are already married.  He is on the 1855 tax census, but is missing on the 1860 census.  Family stories say he drowned while getting cows out of a swollen Indian Creek after a flood.  His body was not found until 2 or 3 days after the creek subsided.  He was buried under an oak tree by the creek.
