   The following answers to the queries propounded are respectfully submitted in 
   support of my application for a Confederate pension under Act of the Legislature 
   of Alabama, approved Sept. 23rd, 1919.

(1)	Q. What is your full name? A. William Clement Shreve
(2)	Q. What is your present post-office address? A. Andalusia, Ala. Route “B”
(3)	Q. What is your exact age? A. 76 Years    Months    19 Days
(4)	Q. How long have you lived in this state? A. All my life
(5)	Q. Did you actually serve as a soldier or sailor? A.  Soldier
(6)	Q. What date did you enlist in the service of the Confederate States? 
      A. Oct. 1864 Where did you enlist? Greenville, Ala.
(7)	Q. What branch of the service were you in? A. Infantry
(8)	Q. What was your rank? A. Private
(9)	Q. Company? A. “F”
(10) Q. Who was captain? A. Simpson
(11) Q. Regiment? A. 63rd Alabama
(12) Q. Who was colonel? A. Law
(13) Q. How long did you see actual service? A. From Oct. 1864 to April 1865
(14) Q. Were you ever wounded? A. No
(15) Q. In what engagements?

(18) Q. Were you ever taken prisoner? A. Yes
(19) Q. If so, under what circumstances? A. Captured about 1700 soldiers in 
        Battle at Blakely.
(20) Q. Where were you captured? A. Blakely, Ala
(21) Q. Where were you confined as a prisoner? A. Ship Island
(22) Q. Under what circumstances were you released? A. When the war was over was 
        carried to Vicksburg and released
(23) Q. Were you paroled? A. Yes, Yankees paroled us at Vicksburg and paid pur way 
        home, about the 20th of May 1865

(25) Q. Where? A. Vicksburg
(26) Q. Why?
(27) Q. If not attached hereto, where is your parole? A.  Don’t know
(28) Q. If you were not paroled, when and where, and under what circumstances did 
        you leave?
(29) Q. Did you take the oath of allegiance to any other government than the 
        Confederate States before April 9, 1865? A. None
(30) Q. Were you transferred from the company in which you first enlisted? A. Yes
(31) Q. Give the Company, Regiment, to which transferred, when and where? A. From 63rd 
        to 62nd, same Regiment in Mobile in Feb. 1865

AFFIDAVIT OF TWO CITIZENS OF THE PRECINT WHERE APPLICANT RESIDES

    We, W. H. Johns and J M Head our post-office address being Dozier Ala and 
Andalusia Ala, respectively, do solemnly swear that we have known 
William Clem Shreve whose named is signed to the foregoing application 30 years
and 22 years respectively, that we consider him to be a truthful and reliable 
person and do not believe that he would make a false statement for the purpose 
of securing a pension.
