Jack's real name was Archibald Washington Peacock but went by Jack in all
transactions except census records.
Has never heard of middle name 'Todd'
Born in 21 Jan 1894. Either Stephenville or
Tunnell's Chapel, Van Zandt Co., TX.
Stevenville is named in the funeral record;
Peacock family lived in Van Zandt until 1907.
Military Service:
Served in National Guard from Waco and went to the border at Hidalgo during
the Pancho Villa campaign.
Went to Ft. Worth in late 1917 in K Co. 141 Infantry of 36th Division.
Went to France and became a hero in WWI when he stormed a machine gun nest
and took it; captured 6 machine guns and 62 germans. He was awarded the
Distinguished Service Cross and the French Croix de Guerre for bravery.
Ernest Brasher, his cousin, said that he heard that when Jack's Officers
were killed he was in charge. He took prisioners and got upset and shot
several of them.
Married at Clay Street Methodist Church by Rev S. P. Nevil.
Lived in Wichita Falls after WWI; went to New Mexico about 1931;
lived in Espanola since 1931.
Has a few photos of Uncle Oren and his family
and Aunt Ollie and her family visiting Jack there.
Always heard they lived in a place with a dirt floor.
Has photos of them (Jack and Vada) by their adobe house.
The family stories were that Jack was on land that was loaded with
uranium and expected to make money off of it but it never materialized.
Jack had no means of support except possibly a WW I pension and I know
my Aunt Alma and Uncle Red (Cunningham) looked after him.

Rev Harold Walker officiated, buried at E.U.B. Cemetery of Alcalde, N.M..
