Greenberry Clay Barron
Milltown, Ala.
1818 - 1909
The above photo is taken from an ambrotype made ca. 1862 of Greenberry Clay Barron.
He served in the Confederate Army as a 4th Corporal of Company "D"
14th Ala. Inf. Regiment. At Chancellorsville, Virginia he was seriously wounded on May 3, 1863.
From this wound he lost three fingers on his right hand and carried a minnie ball in his thigh for 30 years.
Greenberry Clay Barron (pictured above about 1905) was born in Morgan County, GA on September 22, 1818.
He migrated to Chambers County, AL about 1838, first settling at Fredonia. In 1842 he married Martha
Ann Williams of neighboring Troup County, GA. From Fredonia he migrated to Milltown and in his later years
lived at Penton. He died August 31, 1909 and is buried at Milltown Cemetery.
