Mrs. Elizabeth Whatley Carlisle Grave, Mount Hickory Primitive Baptist Church
Mrs. Elizabeth Whatley Carlisle, who died in February, 1855, is said to be the first person
buried in the "new" cemetery at Mount Hickory Primitive Baptist Church. Neatly stacked field
stones serve as a monument to her final resting place. This photograph was made in 1967, and
pictured left to right are: Miss Marjorie Andrews, Mrs. Hattie Adams, Miss Johnnie Still, and Mrs. Ruth B. Stevens.
Miss Andrews worked for Tallapoosa River Electric Cooperative and wrote stories of
local interest for the cooperative's magazine.
