Senator J. Thomas Heflin House
Senator J. Thomas Heflin (1869 - 1951), Democrat, of LaFayette, had this stately home built in 1912. Local architect and builder E. A. Zobel constructed this and many other fine residences throughout Chambers County. Built in the Colonial Revival style, the original capitals of the columns were beyond repair and removed in a 1950s renovation. An earlier house occupied by the Boyd and Dobbins families stood here. This house is located on LaFayete Street South, formerly Montgomery Street, in LaFayette. Photographed by Charles A. Spence (1927 - 2002).
