This handsome residence was built about 1908 for the family of James F. Johnson (1849-1924) and wife
Nancy A. Harris Johnson (1852-1922), in the Denver Community on the Chambers/Tallapoosa County line.
The house no longer exists.

A porch extended partially across the front of the house. Upon entering the front hall door, a parlor was on the left with
exterior chimney and fireplace. To the right of the hall were four rooms, one behind the other. The right front bedroom
extended forward beyond the right end of the front porch. Directly behind this room was another bedroom, with a double
stack chimney in between providing fireplaces for each room. Directly behind the second bedroom was the dining room,
and behind this was the kitchen. Another bedroom extended to the left of the kitchen with another double stack
chimney between these two rooms. This extension made a courtyard effect between the third bedroom and parlor.
Another porch that extended from the rear hall door and on the left side of the second bedroom and dining room,
turned and extended across the third bedroom at the left rear. On the right side of the house another porch extended
the length of the four rooms, and on the back side of the house, yet another porch extended across the kitchen and
third bedroom. The Johnson family evidently appreciated all this porch space for many outdoor activities that would
have been associated with farm life.

This photograph shows the right side of the house with the porch extending the length of two bedrooms,
dining room and kitchen. The well and well shelter can also be seen in this view.
