Anne’s first teaching job was in Sumter County at a one-room school located near the Prospect Baptist Church. In 1921, she married George William Speed and quit teaching.

Evidently this was started at the summer session of 1918 at the State Normal School in Livingston, Alabama. Each person has filled in a blank next to the following items: Name, Address, Date, Phone No., Boy friends, Girl friends, Greatest ambition, Cutest boy, Cutest girl, By word, Hobby, Favorite boy, Favorite girl, Ideal, Chum, Disposition, Favorite song, Favorite flower, Favorite book, Age, Five years hence, Favorite dance, Favorite college, Favorite outdoor sport, Greatest worry.
