Contributed
by Mary Anne Hoit Abbe, a
granddaughter
of Anne Ruth Smith.
Anne’s first teaching job was in Sumter County at a
one-room school located near the Prospect Baptist Church. In 1921, she
married George William Speed and quit teaching.
Evidently
this was started at the summer session of 1918 at the State Normal
School
in Livingston, Alabama. Each person has filled in a blank next to the
following
items: Name, Address, Date, Phone No., Boy friends, Girl friends,
Greatest
ambition, Cutest boy, Cutest girl, By word, Hobby, Favorite boy,
Favorite
girl, Ideal, Chum, Disposition, Favorite song, Favorite flower,
Favorite
book, Age, Five years hence, Favorite dance, Favorite college, Favorite
outdoor sport, Greatest worry.
I will include the
name address date and
age of each person. [When a symbol appears for the age, the person
usually
said something cute.]
