Pharis to Babtist Church Received and recorded 3rd Octr 1837 The State of Alabama Sumter County Know all men by these presents that I John C. Pharis of Said county & state aforesaid have this day made? unto the Hopewell Babtist Church two acres of land running north from the road leading from Demopolis to Livingston including where the meeting house is now ericting it being a part of the South west quarter of section thirty three Township nineteen range one East, the right and title which I bind myself my heirs and assigns & to defend unto the said Church so long as the said Church continues there as a church, and when the said church discontinues at the said place as a church the said described land reverts back to the said John C. Pharis or to his heirs. May 30th 1837 Attest Jarrell Edgeworth Robert R. Keaton The State of Alabama Sumter County Personally appeared J. C.
