submitted by: Mary Hoit Abbe Sumter County, Alabama Deed Book E, p. 572 Daniel Drummond To Deed Benjamin Hitt Received 19th October 1840 and recorded same day Know all me by these presents that I Daniel Drummond of the County of Sumter and State of Alabama in consider- ation of the sum of one dollar to me in had paid by Benj-amin Hitt, Moore Stephens & Joseph Vaan the Deacons of the Babtist Church of Christ at Seloim in the County and State aforesaid the receipt whereof I do hereby acknowledge. I have bargained sold and quit claimed and by these presents do bargain sell and quit claims unto the said Benjamin Hitt Moore Stephens & Joseph Vann Deacons aforesaid and their successors forever all my right title interest estate claim and dem-ands both at law and equity as well in possession as in expectancy of in and to all that certain piece of land situate as follows (to wit) part in the west half of N. W. qr of Section No 27 of township No 17 of Range Three West (viz) beginning at the east line and ranging twenty Rods west then turning Square to the south and running Sixteen Rod then Square to the east and running Twenty rod to the last lines again and the along Said line North Sixteen rod to the first station contain-ing to [sic] acres all lying in the county and state aforesai with all and singular the hereditaments and appurtenances thereunto belonging yet nevertheless with this express condition that if the church aforesaid should dissolve disperse or by any means cease to exist at that place aforesaid or to be occupied and kept up by the denomination aforesaid then and in such case this deed or quit is to be null and void and of no effect but if otherwise to be and remain in full force and virtue in testimony whereof I have hereunto set my hand and affixed my Seal the [blank] day of [blank] AD Daniel Drummond {seal} Signed sealed acknowledged and delivered in presence of us David Hitt The State of Alabama Sumter County Before me David Hitt A Justice of the peace for the county Aforesaid personally appeared DanielDrummonds and acknowledged that he signed sealed and delivered the foregoing deed to the above named Benj B.
