I am looking for the grave
of James H. HOWSE or HOUSE who died in 1837 and was
supposedly buried in
Sumter County. His wife was Mary HOWSE who later married
James OWENS. It
is noted that while going to church one Sunday, the family wagon rolled
over a snake and the snake was thrown up into the wagon. It got tangled
in Mary skirts and bit her several times before the snake could be
killed.
Mary died leaving her two small children orphans. Buckner Lawrence HOWSE
and William Henry HOWSE. If anyone has an info on the
location of this
grave I would appreciate it. Also I would like to find the grave of
Mary HOWSE OWENS.

Lloyd JANES (JEANS) had
a son (James Alexander JANES - my Gr-Grandfather) in 1830
Laurens Co, SC,
and may have had other children there also. Lloyd and his family moved
to Sumter Co, AL in ? with his family. 1840 Sumter Co, AL Census shows
Lloyd with 1 male under 5, 1 male 10-15, 1 female under 5, 2 females
5-10.
The 1 male 10-15 could be my Gr-Grandfather. Can anyone verify the
names
of his children and his wife' maiden name. I can't find any info about
this family until 1870 Houston Co, TX Census, with Lloyd living with
his
dau Mary Elizabeth and her husband. If it can be verified that this
Lloyd JANES (JEANS) is the father of James
Alexander JANES (my Gr-Grandfather),
then I can complete my Family Line. Thank you for any info on this
family.

My WEBB ancestors have been
in Alabama, in the Sumter, Marengo and Butler County areas primarily in
the early years. Henley WEBB is my main mystery man, born in
1811, and
dying in 1864. I have the marriage of him and his wife as being in
Linden,
and a will posted in Livingston. He married Lucy HEARNE, and
they in turn
had 15 children, one of whom is my great grandfather Joseph Whitfield WEBB,
born in 1848.He married Clementine Thankful PAGE in 1865 and
they in turn
had 11 children, of whom Benjamin Warren WEBB born in 1883,
is my grandfather.
He married Mary Magdelene WHITCOMB, who was born in 1882. She
was the daughter
of Benjamin Franklin WHITCOMB, and Joanna BEATTY
who were also married
in Marengo County. They had 8 children, four girls, and 4 boys who grew
up in Linden from the early 1870's to the early 1900's. Many of my
family
are still living in the York and Cuba areas, and I have made a few
connections
in Mississippi. I cannot get info on Henley however! I have heard
the WHITCOMBs
came from South Carolina, but have no information on the BEATTYs.
If any
of these names and time periods sound right to any one, I have all the
extended names on the other children in the generations. Many Thanks,
Jackie
