wife of Fielding Steele
18 Feb. 1830- 3 June 1891
"Soon after Colorado gained statehood in 1876, Fielding Steele and
his
wife Jane Brooks Steele moved with their family from Iowa to homestead
along nearby Parachute Creek. They were among the early settlers in this
area. Jane Brooks Steele died in 1891 and was buried on the hillside just
east of their homestead cabin. Many of their 12 children made their homes
in Colorado and the west."
"When the grave was relocated from the homestead to this final resting
place on May 29, 1982, the family dedicated this grave."
