Can you help identifiy the unit, date and people in this
photograph?
Based on the uniforms, this photograph probably dates from 1898-1910. "Company H" might have been part of the 1st Colorado Volunteer Infantry Regiment which saw service in the Philippines in the Spanish American war.
On the other hand the guard was usually a step-child to the regulars and the uniforms could date from early World War I. "Company H" might be part of the 157th Infantry Regiment, Colorado National Guard (previously the 1st Colorado Volunteer Infantry.) The 157th had local armories in Brush and Ft. Morgan.
The 1st Colorado Infantry was activated in June 1916 for Mexican border service in support of General Pershing's incursion into Mexico and then remained on active duty thru the end of World War I as the 157th Infantry Regiment, 40th Inf Div, AEF. Elements of the 2nd Colorado Infantry were also activated for World War I service but were mostly converted to combat support duty.
The 157th was activated again in 1941 for service with the 45th Inf Div in WWII.
If you can help identify the date, the unit or any of the individuals please drop me a note at mdmonk2@tx.rr.com.
