Irish Genealogical Sources

Slightly over one half of the surname listings and queries submitted to DCGenWeb in these first two weeks of our existence have been from people with DC Irish Roots. Although the largest influx of Irish immigrants to the area was in the wake of the Great Famine, the Irish have been a major presence in Washington since the beginning. There were also substantial Irish communities in Georgetown before the Federal City was built.

So, DC Irish Rooters -- this page is for you!!
