IN THE NAME OF GOD, AMEN, I ROBERT REDDICK SENIOR of Kent County upon Delaware being thro� the abundant Mercy and Goodness of God Tho� weak in Body, yet of a Sound and perfect Understanding and Memory, do constitute this My last Will and Testament, and desire it may be recciv�d by all as Such; Imprimis, I Most humbly bequeath my Soul to God, my Maker, beseeching his most gracious Acceptance of it Thro� the All sufficient Mercy (?) and Mediation of my most compassionate Redeemer, Jesus Christ, who gave himself to be an Attonement for my Sins, and is able to save to the uttermost, all that come unto God by him, Seeing he ever liveth to make Intercession for them and who, I trust, will not reject me, a returning penitent Sinner, when I come to him for Mercy; in this hope and Confidence I render up my soul with Comfort, Humbly beseeching the most Blessed and glorious Trinity, One God most Holy, most Merciful and Gracious, to Prepare me for the time of my Dissolution, and then to take me to himself into that Peace and Rest, and incomparable Felicity, which he has prepared for all that love and fear his Holy Name, Amen, blessed be God, Imprimis, I give my Body to the Earth from whence it was taken, in full Assurance of its Resurrection from thence at the last Day. As for my Burial, I desire it may be decent, without Pomp or State, at the Discretion of my Dear Wife [Note: settlement records her name as Catherine], and my Executors hereafter named, who, I Doubt not, will manage it with all Requisite Prudence. As to my worldly Estate, I will and positively Order, that all my Debts be paid [illegible] I give to my Dear and loving Wife forever the Bed and Furniture that I now lie in and her Horse and Saddle Besides [illegible] her Thirds of all, and the Dwelling House During her life, and to my son John and his Heirs and Assigns for Ever I leave the place he now lives on and a Heifer Calf, which I freely impower him to dispose of as he shall think fit. The Tract of Land I now live on I Desire it may be Equally Divided between my Five Sons hereafter mentioned which is, Cornelius, Robert, James, William, Benjamin Reddick, as for Cornelius, James, William, Benjamin, I leave each of the Four Ten Pounds besides their equal Share of the Land. I give my Daughter Mary Fifteen pounds and a Cow, and to my Daughter Rachel I give to the Value of Three pounds in Cloaths, and I do Constitute my loving Wife and my Son Cornelius to be my Executrix and Executor of this my last will and Testament, and Trustees for my Children, in Witness whereof I have hereunto Set my Hand and Seal the Eleventh Day of December in the Year of our Lord God one Thousand Seven Hundred and Sixty one ----- And further be it observ�d that I desire my son Robert may have his Equal [Part (?) illegible] of the Land Where his Improvement is, and my Daughter Mary I Desire that she may not Have but Ten Pounds out of the Fifteen I left her and that as she Stands in need of it.
