George W. Burton's enclosed family plot bears the
nameplate:
George W. Burton. The top of the plate has an hour glass, (which represents the
ended span of life of many whose graves have long since disappeared within the
enclosed area), over which there is an arch of oak leaves and acorns. The plot
measures 7'x9' with iron posts at the four corners. Draped and crossed are
chains of 1 1/2" links-from the center of which is a medallion supporting a 5"
iron tassel. Of the 9 originally placed, only 3 tassels remain. Rust is
destroying this beautiful iron work.
Burtons of Lewes, Delaware, past and present are connections to the Rodney
Family(famous line of Delaware Statesmen).
