Born at 10am,eldest son. At age 20years he had started life as a husband and
father. During his life he had 2 wives who both died before him and had l7
children, of which only 9 lived to become adults.
First wife was Margaret Saundress(Saunders)dtr of James and
Elizabeth(Thompson)Saundress. Married 9/23/1777. Margaret died 10/22/1795 during
childbirth.

SECOND wife was Sarah King(dtr of Hugh and Mary(Hazzard)King. They were married
on 12/20/1796. Sarah died 12/21/1830 at 7:20am.

His occupation was listed as a ship carpenter, and in 1813 he was paid $2.93 for
9 days of service in 7th Co 8th Regiment of Delaware Militia under Capt.John
Hood. Shepard's rank was private. His tombstone states he also served during the
Revolutionary War, defending Lewes area.
