Slave Records of John Galphin and Thomas Galphin Holmes

The document is a small one, evidence offered in Barnwell District Records, that John Galphin sold a family of slaves, names the mother, and  she has three children, one named Tamar, to Thomas Galphin Holmes, witnessed by George Galphin, in 1790, for 100 sterling.  The transaction took place at  Rock Landing, as written by notary Samuel Nunes.

Thomas Galphin Holmes is the grandson of old George, son of mulatto Barbara Galphin Holmes and her husband William Holmes at Silver Bluff. George Galphin II at the time was married to Frances Nunes, 1/2 sister/mulatto of Samuel Nunes.
