U.S. Naval Training School for WAVES
First in the South, it was commissioned and opened in Milledgeville January, 1943 and was discontinued May 28, 1945

The U.S. Navy Department approved the erection of the Naval Ordinance Plant on February 12, 1942
 It became inactive on July 1,1948. It was located on Hwy. 22. (old J.P.Stevens plant)
