David Kaluhi Baker
David K Baker, lawyer and surveyor, district magistrate North Kona Hawaii; born in Makawao, Maui 11 Sept 1861. Educated Royal School and Punahou Academy; clerk in Custom House Honolulu 1885-1893; helper T H Davies & Co hardware Dept 1893-1897; principal Honaunau public school Hawaii 1900-1904; deputy sheriff South Kona 1905-1908; Senator Territorial Legislature 1909-1916; district magistrate North Kona 1917 to date. Studied law with Messers Castle, Ashgord and Kinney, Honolulu and admitted to bar 1907. Spouse was Esther Kalaukoa, 14 June 1884, Honolulu. Children: George Kaluhi Baker born 22 Dec 1885, Honolulu; Frederick W Baker, born 9 Feb 1889, Honolulu; David K Baker Jr, b ca 1903; William M Baker, born ca 1909. He died 6 Oct 1927, Kalaupapa, Molokai.
