Charles Eugene Banks

Charles Eugene Banks, author, journalist of Hilo HI.  Born in Clinton County IA, 3 Apr 1852.  He was the son of Seth Lee and Sarah (Hubbell) Banks.  Married Carroline Wyatt 3 Apr 1892, Chicago, IL.  Raised on farm and worked during youth as a clerk in country store and later as traveling salesman.  He entered journalistic career as newspaper reporter and later publisher American Commercial Traveler, Chicago.  Many many details on his periodicals and publications in the article.

He  and wife Caroline apparently came to Hawaii on the ship Makura on 23 April 1919.  He is shown employed by Post Intelligence Newspaper, Seattle WA at the time.
