Manuel Charles Baptiste

 

Manuel Baptiste, banker of Honokaa Hawaii.  Born 26 Aug 1897 at Honomu Hawaii.  Son of Antone  Baptiste and Anna De Medeiros Cabrinha.  He was educated

at  Brother's School, Hilo and St Louis College, Honolulu graduating in 1916.  He married Millicent Stroup in Hilo on 1 Mar 1919. Children: Millicent Marie born ca 1921, Charles R born ca 1922, Everdien, born ca 1931,.  Began career as head bookkeeper for Wall, Nichols Co in Hilo from July-Dec 1916.  Stenographer with People's Bank Ltd, Hilo working in various departments and becoming asst cashier June 1920.

 

  Became cashier Honokaa Branch of the People's Bank Lt, Aug 1920.  Enlisted in the Students' Army Training Corps, College of Hawaii, and honorably discharged Dec 1918. 

Member Foresters YMI St Louis College Alumnae.  American Legion and Vice President Honokaa Social Club. Auditor for Hamakua Civic Club. Died 2 Feb 1958,

Honolulu, Buried National Memorial Cemetery of the Pacific, Honolulu.
