William Henry Barringer

Civil Engineer, Hilo Hawaii.  Born in Stockton CA 8 July 1888.  He was the son of Edward J and Martha E McGurk Barringer.  His education was at St Joseph's Academy and St Mary's College in Oakland CA and the University of CA.  He married Lucille Kopa, 27 Dec 1910, Kohala, HI.  Children: Etha K (born ca 1912); Ronald A (born ca 1914); Wilma H (born ca 1917); Lucile (born ca 1919).  He was asst engineer S P Railway 1907-08.  Topographer USGS California 1908-09; Hawaii 1909-11.  Engineer for Hilo RR Co 1912-1913 and Hawaii Loan Fund Commission 1913-1914; for public works dept and  harbor commission Territory of Hawaii 1914-1919; deputy county engineer Hawaii County 1919-1920; County Engineer since 1 Aug 1920.  Chairman of Hawaii Loan Fund Commission.  Served in National Guard of Hawaii 1915-1918 with rank of Lt.  Chancellor commander Hilo lodge #7 K of P; esteemed lecturing knight Hilo Lodge #759, BPOE; member of A O Foresters Hilo Board of Trade, Ad Club and Hawaii Automobile Club.
