Provided and Researched by Doreen O'Rie Harunaga-Ewing

Grandfather Manki Harunaga’s Honokaa Theater (1920 - 1934) also known as the Japanese Theater

According to NHERC Heritage Center, Honokaa, the building at 45-3568 State Hwy 240 in Honokaa, HI across the street from the Bank of Hawaii is what remains of Grandfather Manki’s Honokaa Theater. The shape “sort

of” matches the 1920’s photo of the theater.

Photo from Dr Lester Harunaga, DDS, Harunaga photo collection is believed to have been

taken in the 1920's judging from the cars parked in front of the building.
