06-11 Murillo I need help trying to find any information about my grandmother's family.. My grandma was born 23 Jun 1912 and then was given up for adoption. I was wanting to know if there is any particular direction I can be pointed in.. Murillo is the adopted family's name.. Please help Maria 10/28/06
06-10 Kanui, Kuanea (Kunea), Puniwai Searching for lost family members. My fathers family are from Kohala and a very extensive family. These names in particular are fleeting. Any info on them would be greatly appreciated. My fathers' name was William "Bill" Kanui. He was brought home to rest in 1985. We lived in Keaukaha. Mahalo Anna 10/28/06
06-09 DeJesus, DeSilva, Hart John Benedict Hart and his son, William Patrick were teaching school at the Catholic Mission in K'au in 1890 according to the directory. They immigrated sometime after 1879 from Yorkshire England. I'm trying to find out exactly when they got to the Islands.

John died in 1898 and is buried at the site of the former Sacred Heart Catholic Church in Waiohinu near South Point. That is where the cemetery info comes into play. The Catholic Church doesn't know about that cemetery and evidently the records have been lost. All the other info on Sacred Heart is located at Holy Rosary in Pahala. Sacred Heart is now located in Na'ahelu. The church and cemetery in Waiohinu is in ruins.

By 1910 William and his family of 10 children, including my grandmother, Mary Margaret Hart, had moved to Honolulu where he was working in the offices of a steamship company. He died in April 1910.

The other family is DeSilva - Francisco Ignacio DeSilva and his wife, Henriqueta Florinda DeJesus arrived in 1879 aboard the High Flyer form the Azores. Three children came with them, including my g-grandmother Anna Florinda, who married William Hart. There were 7 children all together.

So I am searching for info on any of these and trying to fill in info on the Catholic Church and School. The Catholic Church in Hawaii knows nothing - by chance I found the records at Holy Rosary when we visited last year.

06-03 Coxen, Lewis Looking for information on my Grandfather James R. Coxen. He taught School on Hilo off and on from about 1926 or 1927 until WW II. His wife, Neva, also taught school in South Hilo public schools and is listed as a teacher in the 1930 census. I think they were married on Hilo but don't know that for sure. A divorce could also be registered by James who divorced my grandmother sometime in 1930's or so. I know this is sketchy. Any help you can be would be greatly appreciated. James could have been teaching in a US goverment school or a University. Smith 03/26/06
