Funeral services for Ernest D. Reinking were held Saturday afternoon, March 15, at the Owen-Elliot chapel with Rev. C. S. Kleckner officiating and Masonic services given by C. H. Brewer of the Kalispell lodge. During the services two requested songs were sung by Mrs. Ross Swarens.
Friends serving as casket bearers were Phillip Rawding, John Cotton, E. A. Austia, Charles Bondurant, J. M. Montgomery and James K. Lang. Committal services were held in the Owen-Elliot cemetery chapel under the direction of the Whitefish Masonic lodge in Conrad Memorial cemetery.
Ernest Detrich Reinking was born October 8. 1855, in Lawrenceburg, Indiana.
It was in the late 80"s that Mr. Reinking and his family came to this community. He was one of the group that started work on the First Christian church which was then located on Second avenue and Seventh street. All the rough lumber for this building came from his ranch, and he himself built the pulpit which is now in use at the present Central Christian church. Mr. Reinking was also a charter member of the Whitefish Masonic lodge.
About 12 years ago he moved to Colorado to make his home. He passed away March 6, 1942, at the home of his daughter, Mrs. Matie LeFevre, of Boulder, Colorado. Besides his daughter he is survived by a son, Floyd Reinking of Seattle, Washington.
