Ronald Fred Zoller, 83, of Moores Hill passed away Saturday, June 15, 2019 at Highpoint Health in Lawrenceburg.
Ron was born Thursday, September 12, 1935 in Cincinnati, Ohio, the son of Fred and Helen (Wagner) Zoller. He married Joan Hamant on September 24, 1960, and she survives.
Ron joined the National Guard in Cincinnati while still attending Greenhills High School in Cincinnati, OH and served in a field artillery fire control unit. He served in the National Guard until he joined the U.S. Marine Corps in September of 1955. He served in the 3rd Battalion, 12th Marines. Ron took his basic training in San Diego, CA, and then infantry training at Camp Pendleton in CA. After basic and infantry training, he served at Kaneohe Bay in HI until March of 1958. After returning from Hawaii, he spent the last six months of duty at Quantico Marine base in VA until he was honorably discharged Sept. 15, 1958. He served in the reserves until he was discharged in January 1963. Ron attended Central Academy of Commercial Art; worked as a lithographer at Standard Publishing Company in Mt. Healthy, OH for 37 years and retired from there in 1995. Ron was a member of multiple organizations including: a 50 year member of E.T. Carson F & AM Masonic Lodge # 598 in Cincinnati, OH; Mt. Sinai United Methodist Church; Southeastern Indiana Art Guild; G.C.I.U. Local #508; was active in the Mt. Healthy, OH and Milan/Moores Hill Cub Scouts and R.S.V.P. pen pal program. His hobbies included artwork: drawing and watercolor painting; reading; word puzzles; bowling; and horseshoe pitching.
Ron is survived by wife, Joan of Moores Hill; his three sons: Jeffrey (Cindy Ollier) of Guilford, IN, James (Jamie) of Erlanger, KY, and R. Joseph(Kelly Riehle) of Moores Hill, IN; 6 grandchildren: Jack (Isabella Gentile) Zoller of Milwaukee, WI, Lydia Zoller of Erlanger, KY, Morgan Zoller of Lawrenceburg, Jill Zoller of Indianapolis, Madison Zoller (Zachery) Roberts of HI, and Carly Zoller of Versailles; special grandchildren: Makenna, Kiersten and Kennedie Dixon; brothers Fred and Alan (Lillian) Zoller.
He was preceded in death by his parents; sister Laura and brother-in-law Mike Enwright.
Family and friends may gather to share and remember him 4 - 8 PM Wednesday, June 19 also at the church.
Sibbett-Moore Funeral Home is entrusted with arrangements.
A service celebrating his life will be held 10 AM Thursday, June 20 at Mt. Sinai United Methodist Church, 9813 Mt. Sinai Road, Aurora, IN 47001 with Pastor LaJo Dunbar officiating.
Burial will follow in Forest Hill Cemetery in Moores Hill with full military rites provided by the Moores Hill American Legion Post #209.
