Emma Marie Shook Ridenour, 74, of Indianapolis, passed away on Sunday, May 18, 2008 at her home. She was born near Cross Plains on April 27, 1934, the daughter of James and Elizabeth Whitham Shook.
Survivors include two daughters, Jackie (Frank) de Moss of Beech Bluff, TN, and Trina (Danny) Lockart of Indianapolis; one granddaughter, Ashley Elizabeth Lockart of Indianapolis; sister-in-law, Virginia Shook of Osgood; nieces, Cheryl Bentley, Wanda Shook, Libby Updike, and Donna Marie Shade. She was preceded in death by her parents, her sister Lorraine Francis Shook, and her brothers Lawrence and Roscoe Shook.
Ms. Ridenour attended the Cross Plains school and was a 1952 graduate of Central High School in Madison. She was a 40 year employee for the telephone companies of Western Electric, Pacific Tel, Southern Bell, and Indiana Bell. She had formerly lived in Los Angeles, Salinas, California, Jacksonville Beach, Florida, and Bryson City, North Carolina.
Funeral services will be held on Thursday, May 22 at 2 p.m. at the Stratton-Karsteter Funeral Home in Versailles. Burial will be in the Cliff Hill Cemetery in Versailles. Visitation will also be on Thursday from 1 p.m. until time of services. Memorials may be given to Father Flanagan’s Boys Town or the Cliff Hill Cemetery in care of the funeral home.
