Carl Milton Schwier, 90
Carl Milton Schwier, age 90 of Osgood, IN passed away on Monday, June 23, 2014 at St. Andrews Health Campus in Batesville, IN.
The son of William and Evelyn (Snelling) Schwier was born on July 16, 1923 in Wiseburg, IN. Carl was a US Army Veteran of WWII, serving in Europe, where he became a Purple Heart recipient. He married Viola Mae Pindell on June 7, 1947. Carl retired from Seagrams in 1982 and was a member of the American Legion Post #337, Sunman.
He is survived by his wife, Viola, sons Andy (Janice) Schwier of Sunman, IN and Jeffrey (Beverly) Schwier of Batesville; daughters Carolyn (Mike) Hinners of Pierceville, IN and Carla (Ron) Neuman of Rushville, IN; 11 grand children and 10 great grandchildren; along with brothers Floyd Schwier of Mt. Sinia, IN; Harvey Schwier of FL, and Bill Ayres of Fairland, IN; sister Luella France of CA; step brother Donald Schwier of Sunman and step sister Martha Clark of Dillsboro, IN.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his son, Marion Francis Schwier and brother Elmer Schwier.
Visitation on Thursday from 4-8pm at Meyers Funeral Home, 1150 State Rd. 46 E, Batesville. Funeral service 10:00am, Friday, June 27, 2014 with 1 hour of visitation before, at St. Paul Lutheran Church (Stumke’s Corner) in Milan, IN. Pastor Tom Frey and Rev. David Johnston officiating. Burial will follow at St. John Church Cemetery (Hubbles) with military grave side rites by American Legion Post #337 of Sunman, assisted by the Indiana Patriot Guard.
Memorials may be given to St. Paul Lutheran Church (Stumke’s Corner) or American Legion Post #337, Sunman c/o Meyers Funeral Home.
