John Abram Haines was the father of 5 boys and 2 girls. One of the girls died young, the other was my great-Grandmother Effa Lauretta Haines Denny. She was still living when I was born. She died in 1951.
They attended the Bethel Baptist Church with cemetery, located in Shelby Township. It was located outside of New Marion. Of course, with my luck, the cemetery was one of those that had to be relocated for the Jefferson Proving Ground (virtually all my Jefferson County ancestors had to be moved because they had settled in Monroe Township). However, the cemetery was still intact in the 1930s when Violet was walking the countryside. I didn't see it in the cemetery listings. I do know that it was moved to Jennings County. It is located south of Butlerville, I think on what must be the baseline road running east-west. The lady I have talked with about the cemetery is Norma Irwin. She lives in Hartsville, Indiana. I think that she is trying to maintain the cemetery.
