Excerpt from Mt. Vernon, Il. Register News: In the mid 1870s. F. M. EAGLIN, apparently disillusioned with Missouri, was returning to his native Kentucky with his family by wagon. Ill. census shows F. M. to be born in 1842 in Kentucky. I would like to know what county and possibly link him to other family who remained in Kentucky. I do know he married Cathrine A. BLACKGRAVES, from Missouri near Mammoth Cave. Children: Lorene (Rene), Maude S., Theodocia (Doch), John, "Matt" Augusta Eaglin. My grandmother was Maude S. Eaglin b. 1880, d. 1958. Looking for information on the ARNOLD family in KY. My 2g-grandfather, Isham ARNOLD (b. est 1855, AL, d. after 1900) although he was born in Alabama, must have come to KY at some point. He may have married a KY woman. They had three children: Isham R. ARNOLD (b. 1874, "The Cedars", KY d. 10 Mar 1963, B'ham, AL), Annie ARNOLD (b. 1877, KY d. after Mar 1963, B'ham, AL) and Mahala Jane ARNOLD (my great-grandmother, b. 25 Mar 1878, KY d. 22 Aug 1971, B'ham, AL). I don't know where in KY they were born -- except that Isham Jr.'s obit said he was born at The Cedars, KY, wherever that is. Isham Sr. came from AL and returned to AL with his children, probably after his wife died. He may have been a preacher, or a teacher, and a fisherman. Any clues or hints on this line would be appreciated. Even knowing just what or where "The Cedars" is would be helpful.

I'm kinda lost here. I have a book written by L.B.Moffett in 1929 entitled:The Descendants of William and Nancy Mayhall Stewart. It lists as William STEWART's father a "____ STEWART born in Ireland around 1750, married a ___NORRIS born in Scotland. They came to America staying a while in Pensylvania. Went to Kentucky. He was a Captain of a Company of Indian fighters called "Stewart's Spies" and founded one "Stewart Station" in Kentucky. After being in Kentucky a while he returned to Red Stone Country, PA Where their sons William and Thomas STEWART were born. They then returned to Kentucky. Thomas STEWART had a son named Harvey STEWART. He was a member of the Church of the Disciples of Christ. I am trying to locate Thomas GARNER (b. Feb. 1847) in 1870. The last place I find him is on the 1880 TN census in Hardin Co. married to Mandy (Amanda) (b. Feb. 1852). He would have been 23 yrs old at this time and, since their oldest child (Alice) was 8 in 1880, they may not have been married at the time. All I know is that I can't find Thomas on the 1870 TN census index anywhere. I thought maybe he went to KY during/after the war for a while. Any help would be appreciated.

I am researching Boling roots in Kentucky. My great grandfather, Redding Boling, was born in Washington County, Indiana on 2 January 1831. My records indicate that he may be the grandson of John Boling. John was the son of Benjamin Bolling who lived in North Carolina. John lived in Kentucky for an unknown period of time where four of his sons were born. They were: Benjamin, John Jr., Randolph and Jesse. Looking for any information on Joseph Franklin GIBBONS said to have been born in England Feb 2, 1839 and died at Smith, KY (Harlan County) on Jan 23, 1879 of pnewmonia while teaching school. Reportedly he was a teacher and a minister. He was married to Rhoda Catherine Parris (maiden name), widow of a Confederate soldier (last name Giles). She was from Spartansburg, SC. Joseph Franklin Gibbons was said to have been in the Northern Army before marrying Rhoda Catherine We don't know how they met, or anything of his background or where he had lived, etc. Any information or clues appreciated.

I am looking for information on Simpson Colepand's ancestry. Simpson was born in Graves Co, KY in 1829. I think he married a Mary in 1850 in graves Co. He had a son, Henry W. born in 1851. I guess Mary died because he married Adeline Patterson in 1852 in Graces Co. They had two children that I know about Harriett in 1857 and Julia A. in 1852. I would like to know if Simpson's parents were among the Abel Copeland group that came from Chatman Co. NC in the late 1790's or some other group straight from VA. Thanks for any help you can give. I am seeking my BOULWARE and SUTTLES ancestor's back to the War for Southern Independence. I am including some maiden names and ancestor's prior to my great, great grandfather, John BOULWARE. John was born in or near Lexington, KY. in 1798, trained as a blacksmith, married Elizabeth SEARGENT in 1826, had a son, William, about 1832 in Kentucky, a son, Edward HARRISON, in 1840 in Indiana, enlisted in the 49th Indiana Volunteers Regiment at age 63 on October 28, 1861 and died about 1895.

Looking for Hiram CHRISTY b, ca 1815 somewhere in KY. Ended up in Decatur county, IN by 1834 where he married Mary Ann PRICHARD, b. 1815 Scott county, KY, dau. of John PRITCHARD and Ann SMARR. I believe a son Hiram and Mary was William CHRISTY, who married Sarah SMOTHERS in Indiana and died in Decatur county between 1870 and 1880. Another possible connection might be to Churchhill G. CHRISTY, b. in KY and in Decatur county at the same time as Hiram.

Robert and his son, Samuel, are listed as farmers. Mary and all the children were born in Ky. so they obviously left Ky circa 1848/49. The father, Henry, supposedly died crossing the plains, the mother and children came to CA early 1850's, were in Yuba county and later (1870's) Tehama county CA. Searching for the KY county in which Jesse RAY was born in 1802. His wife was Susan PRITCHET, born 1815 OH. Have found no record of their marriage. Later both are in the 1850 and 1860 census of Lawrence Co IL and then the 1865 state census of Fayette Co IL and the 1870 and 1880 censuses of Fayette Co IL. Jesse RAY died in Oct 1882, living in the Hurricane community, near the border of Bond and Fayette Counties in IL.

I have a William "Joseph" INGRAM b.abt 1850 KY who married Julia HARDING b.1852 KY abt 1873 KY. I have several census records that indicate the Joseph's parents were born in VA and Julia's in KY. Julia has a brother named John HARDING. Joseph & Julia moved briefly to TX and then back to KY before moving to Delaware CO IN 4 of their 6 children were born in Kentucky, to date I have not found what county the HARDING's or the INGRAM's are from, or where they had their children.
