DEATH OF DAN LOUIS CHERLOT
The Church Point Democrat January 25, 1908
At the hospital in New Orleans, Sunday, Dan Louis Cherlot,
colored, age 60 years. Charlot was a respected law abiding, wealthy negro,
living four miles south of town. The body was brought to Lafayette by train
from there here by team and entered in the cemetery Monday morning. He leaves a
wife and a number of children and grand children to mourn his loss.
The procession following the remains to church was one of
the largest ever witnessed in this community there being something like 500
people.
