CP Democrat, December 19, 1908
On Tuesday of this week probably one of the most beautiful weddings ever celebrated here took place. The contracting parties are Miss Ella Thibodeaux to Mr. Ben Guidry. The ceremony was performed by Father Roger assisted by a priest from Breaux Bridge.
Ben having been a staunch of Guidrys Concert Band marrying while in band uniform, the entire band was out to furnish the music for the occasion and at about 4 oclock the wedding march started from the residence of Mrs. Jos. Bouques with the groom in the lead accompanied by one of his sisters and on the arm of one of her uncles the bride next, dressed in fine cream mohair princess with white silk waist and the long bridal veil, in which she was charming beyond expression in words. And then followed by Guidrys Concert Band, which furnished a suitable march while going to the church, discoursed a number of selected pieces there.
After the ceremony all repaired to the home of the grooms parents where delicious refreshments were served and a number of toasts of congratulations and well wishes were exchanged and more music furnished, when shortly all winded their way homeward.
Both parties are so well known in this community they require no eulogy at our hands. However we desire to say that it is the Democrats fervent wish that in their sojourn over the blissful sea of matrimony that trouble shall be a stranger to their door and happiness and contentment there ever present. And further that they may love a long and eventful filled with much prosperity.
