DISTRICT COURT
CONVENES
April 20, 1901
The April term was opened Monday by Judge DeBallion. The
grand jury was empanelled and a long docket of important cases will occupy the
attention of the court for some time.
In his charge to the grand jury this morning Judge DeBallion
called to their especial attention to the delapitated condition of the present
court house. He charged them that it was a part of their duty to inspect the
public building and that the present building was both inadequate and unsafe.
Issac Hayes was exempt from jury duty, A.L. Chappuis was
excused for H.W. Lackey. The following jury was drawn and is now in session:
J.D. Belton, foreman; W.A. Lyons, G.S. Norton, Henry
Redlick, M.W. Marshall, B.F. Carper, Emile Daboval, jr., Jules Menou, paul
Fremeaux, Homer Broussard, Jr., J.E. Daigle, E.S. Legnnion.
The following cases were brought over from last term were
fixed for trial:
