History
By Anthony Guillory
Elizabeth was founded in 1906 when the Industrial Lumber Company
established a sawmill and built a town around it. The name Elizabeth was chosen as a
tribute to the daughter of Sam Parks, one of the men who established the mill.
Check out the link below for pictures of Elizabeth (also others
in the state) taken by the Santa Fe Railway Company back in the 1920s. If you
can identify any of the buildings or people, please let them know, especially of
the unidentified Rural Allen Parish pictures. This site is maintain by Russell
Crumps for the Santa
Fe Railway Historical & Modeling Society.
