A small community, its Post Office was established July 3, 1894, with James A. Grant as the first Postmaster.

Interesting Tidbits

James Albert Grant, Grant's first Postmaster, used to travel through the country selling Bibles. He saw the need for a post office in the community and established it in his store as well as naming it after himself. People described him as being way under five feet tall, actually around four feet tall, weighing about 75 pounds, and having a long white beard. He also served as church clerk for the old Spring Hill Church. Grant never owned a house, but instead boarded with different families in  the community.

After a few years, Grant gave up the post office and Jim Baggett was named the second Postmaster. Baggett was replaced by Emma Covin, and she in turn was replaced by Elias Johnson. After 1925 it was moved to its present location in the Fairview community.

Palestine Baptist Church

Palestine Baptist Church was established in 1866.
