Eli Bell Dies After Short Illness
Eli Bell, age 80, of Hodge, died early Monday morning, May 23, at
his home after a short illness. Mr. Bell was a native of Bienville Parish, and a
retired welder.
Funeral services were held at 3:00 p.m. Tuesday, May 24,
in the Buck Edmonds Memorial Chapel in Jonesboro. Rev. Evelyn Alexander
conducted the services.
Burial was in the Fellowship Cemetery near
Quitman under the direction of Edmonds Funeral Home of Jonesboro.
Survivors include his wife, Mrs. Letha Bell of Hodge; five sons, W.R. Bell and
Dugan Bell, both of Quitman, R.E. Bell of Sikes, Oliver Bell of Irving, Texas,
and Waymon Bell of Jonesboro; one daughter, Mrs. Gloria Sullivan of Quitman; two
sisters, Mrs. Nola Spurlock and Mrs. Oma Blackburn, both of Jonesboro; two
step-sons, Lavelle Jiles of Jonesboro and Charlie Gray of Irving, Texas; 20
grandchildren; 29 great grandchildren; 9 step grandchildren and 8 step great
grandchildren also survive.
Pallbearers were Lonnie Gray, Billy Ingram,
Gary Bell, Bud Robinson, Troy Burson and Earl Alexander.
