Services for Mr. John L. Haile, 75, of Jonesboro, were held at 10:00 a.m.
Tuesday, March 7, 1995, at First Baptist Church of Jonesboro with Dr. Herb
Dickerson officiating.
Burial was in Jonesboro Cemetery under the
direction of Edmonds Funeral Home.
Mr. Haile died Saturday, March 4, at
his residence in Jonesboro.
He grew up in Ansley and graduated from
Ansley High School in 1936. He received a bachelors degree from Louisiana Tech
and a masters degree from LSU. Mr. Haile taught in Jackson Parish School system
for over 30 years. He later worked for Big Star Foods, Jonesboro Feed & Seed,
and until his death, Edmonds Funeral Home.
He officiated at high school
and college basketball games all over the state for many years. He also coached
American Legion and Little League Baseball.
Mr. Haile was a longtime
member and Sunday School teacher for the First Baptist Church of Jonesboro.
Survivors include one son, John William Haile of Lake Charles, two
daughters, Mary Lloyd Bryant of Irving, TX, and Brenda Beaver of Arlington, TX;
four brothers, Dr. William Haile of Baton Rouge, Harrel Haile of Natchitoches,
S.W. "Red" Haile of Calhoun and Rev. George "Bub" Haile of Baton Rouge, one
sister, Nancy Futch of Farmersville; and six grandchildren.
Pallbearers
were Doug Humphrey, Jimmy Rogers, Sam Ledbetter, Arnold Harvey, Mark Golden,
Johnny Templeton, Charles Quarles, Billy McDonald, Dr. Charles Garrett and Woody
McDonald.
Memorials may be given to the Baptist Children's Home.
John Lorenzo HAILE was the 2nd husband of Mary Orene HAY BRYANT, daughter of John Langdon & Corrie Dee (ROWELL) HAY.
