James Edward ArceneauxJennings Daily News Jennings, LA October 15, 1995 Jennings, LA James Edward (Jimmy) Arceneaux , veterans service officer for Jefferson Davis Parish for about 20 years, died at about 7 pm last night at his home, 1010 Cary Avenue. He was 52. Funeral Services will be held tomorrow at 10 am from Our Lady Help of Christians Catholic Church with burial following in Calvery Cemetery under the direction of Miguez Funeral Home. A rosary will be recited tonight at 7:30 at the Miguez chapel. Chapel hours will be observed until 11 pm. Arceneaux was born on January 11, 1913 in Welsh, the son of F.F. Arceneaux and the late Aimee Martin Arceneaux, members of pioneer Jeff Davis Parish families. The elder Arceneaux served many years as parish tax assessor. Arceneaux was graduated from Jennings High School where he starred as a lineman in football and was active in track. He attended Louisiana State University. During World War II, Arceneaux saw duty in the European Theater with the US Army. He was separated from service as a lieutenant. Arceneaux began his overseas duty when his unit, the Jennings National guard, was activated. Arceneaux held membership in the Veterans of Foreign Wars Post 3686,James O. Hall American Legion Post 19 and Jennings Knights of Columbus aCouncil 2012. He was Fourth Degree Knight and former grand knight of the local council. He also was a Rotarian. Arceneaux is survived by his widow, the former Justine Manouvrier; two daughters, Barbara Gail Greidenwise and Florence Marie Arceneaux, both of Jennings; four brothers, John Horace and Martin Arceneaux, both of Jennings, Charles Raymond Arceneaux of Eunice, and Felix F. Arceneaux Jr. of Dallas. Also, three sisters, Mrs B.B. Hunkapiller of Winter Park, Fla., Mrs. J.E. DuPont of Snyder, Tex. And Mrs. Morris Henry Jr. of Jennings, and his father, Felix F.
