Union Parish Louisiana
|
---|
Upon its creation from northwestern Ouachita Parish on 13 March 1839, Union Parish bordered Union County Arkansas to the north, Ouachita Parish to the south and east, and Claiborne Parish to the west. Union lost her southwestern corner to Jackson Parish in 1845 and shared a border with Jackson for the next twenty-eight years. In 1873, the northern portion of Jackson, together with small regions in Bienville, Claiborne, and southwestern Union Parishes were cut off to form Lincoln Parish. With this change, Union lost her border with Jackson. The parish boundaries have remained unchanged since 1873.
