JONES, WARREN posted by Sharon Jones Woodard Email: GUMBO LADY@aol.com on Saturday, November 29, 1997

I am trying to locate any information on my grandfather, Ira WARREN (a white male) whom I believe lived in or near Hackley, Louisiana. His sons were Franklin and Johnnie (white males). My mother, his daughter, Pearlee JONES (bi-racial), is deceased. I am doing my family's genealogy. My mother's brothers did acknowledge her and I would like to get any information on my grandfather (i.e., birth, death, etc)

BROCK, KEMP, SMITH posted by Edie Smith Email: hartnurs@kci.net on Saturday, December 6, 1997

I am researching my father's mothers family and am at a road block. My grandmother was Edna Mattie BROCK or (Mattie Edna) I have seen it both ways. She was born March 13, 1886 and married my grandfather Riplon Waller KEMP on May 20, 1910. She had attended Louisiana Normal for her teaching degree ( Northwestern State University now). They had 8 children. She died on September 14, 1961 and is buried in Scott Cemetery in Monterey Louisiana. She was the daughter of Sandy BROCK and Clara SMITH. From there I am lost. My uncle told me that she was from Mount Herman. I do Know that at the time of their marriage, my grandfather's family was living near Pleasant Hill area and attended Pleasant Hill Baptist Church. Any help you could be in finding further information about my grandmother and her family would be greatly appreciated. I have a good bit of information on the KEMP family and would be willing to share information. .

BULLEN, HOPKINS, JONES, PITTMAN, SMITH posted by Glenn Williams Email: DeaconGHW@aol.com on Friday, January 2, 1998

I am looking for my wife's great-grandfather, a George Washington HOPKINS b. 1874-1876 d. abt 1918. I have a good census hit on him and lots of info on his wife Hester b 1875-1879 d. 1959 (in Bogalusa, buried in Crain Cemetary in Stateline) and a couple of family notes from her grandfather that his father died when he was 10 (about 1918). Family stories range from a death in New Orleans to a death off-shore. I was hoping that there might be something mentioned about him in local histories or official death records. Any help would be appreciated. Also, I have done some work on several Washington Parrish families and I will share what I have found if anyone is interested. The names I am working on are BULLEN, HOPKINS, PITTMAN, JONES (Samuel Portavin), and SMITH.
