ANDERSON, COOPER, WOODS posted by Leila MAYBERRY Email: lbmaybe@mindspring.com on Tuesday, August 4, 1998

I'm researching the family of Cornelius COOPER and his wife, Jane WOODS COOPER. Jane WOODS was born in Maryland and Cornelius COOPER was born 1774 in Granville co, NC. They married there in 1796. They then moved to Franklin county Georgia and then were in St. Tammany parish by 1811. Both their wills are recorded there in 1850s. Some of their children remained in La. while others moved to Texas and their son, James Cooper, and his wife, Sarah, moved to Hancock co, Ms. ( the portion that is now P.R. co.)before 1850. Sarah may be a daughter of Thomas or Abraham ANDERSON. Cornelius COOPER owned land in St. Tammany and Washington parishes. James and Sarah were living on this land in Washington co in 1830. I am particularly interested in verifying whether or not Cornelius COOPER was Indian. Thank you, Leila Mayberry
