Mrs. Kate Almagro
Baltimore American  ‘August 31, 1909

The  funeral of Mrs. Kate Almagro, wife of Louis Almagro of Ottawa, Canada and formerly of this city, will take place from 314 South Exeter, the residence of her parents, Mr. & Mrs.  Frank Rama, this morning at 8 o’clock .  A solemn requiem mass will be celebrated by Rev. Father Di Paola, who performed the marriage ceremony of the couple about two months ago.  Interment will be in St. Vincent’s Cemetery.

Mr. William D. Beynon Jr.
Baltimore American  December 11, 1907 

The funeral of Mr. William D. Beynon Jr. 26 years old, assistant engineer of No. 32 Engine Company took place yesterday morning at 8:30 o’clock  from the home of his sister. Mrs. Catherine Connery,  1630 Miller street.  A requiem high mass was offered at St. Andrew‘s Catholic Church by the rector, Father Murphy.  Interment was in St. Vincent‘s Cemetery.  Eight members of  No 32.Company  officiated as pallbearers and marched beside the hearse to the city limits.  They were Capt Geo Shipley, Edward Doud, Conrad Smith,

William F. Meangher, George L. LaDomus, Peaburton Warmsley.  Frederick Joeckel and William H. Adams.  Each engine company in the city was represented at the funeral and marched in full uniform under the direction of District Engineer L. H. Burkhart.  Among those who attended the funeral were Chief Horton and Capt. James Robb.

Mr Beynon died Saturday  at St. Joseph’s Hospital of typhoid fever.  He is survived by his father (Mr. William D. Beynon Sr. of Canada) one brother (Mr. Thomas Beynon) and three sisters (Mrs. Catherine Connery and the Misses Annie and Marie Beynon).   He had been a member of the fire department for five years.  He was appointed assistant engineer, November 1 at No 15 Engine company, but was transferred to No 32 on July 1 of this year. Mr. Robert T. Turner, undertaker , had charge of the funeral arrangements

Agnes Byrne
Baltimore  Sun     January 11 1903

The body of Miss Agnes Byrne, who was burned to death in her room at 838 Hillen Street, Friday afternoon as told in The Sun yesterday, will be buried tomorrow morning by the Society of St. Vincent de Paul.  Mass will be celebrated at St. Ignatius Church and the body will be buried in St. Vincent’s Cemetery.

 Mr.  William F. Taylor, president of the  society, yesterday ordered Messrs. Evans  & Spence, undertakers  to take charge of the remains.

As yet no relatives of Miss Byrne have been located.  She was said to have been supported by the charities of St. Ignatius and St. Vincent’s parishes.

The funeral of Mrs. Catherine Dailey took place yesterday morning at 9 o’clock from St. Mary Star of the Sea Church.   Requiem mass was celebrated by the Rev. J.L. Sullivan.  After the mass Mr. Frank Kelly sang “Raise Me Jesus”  and Rev J. L. Sullivan sang “Abide With Me,” and as the casket was borne from the church the choir sang “Nearer My God to Thee“. 

 The pallbearers were Messrs. James Dailey, John Dailey, Robert Dailey.  William Eagen, Francis Dailey and Joseph Miller, grandsons of the deceased.  Interment was in the family lot in St. Vincent’s Cemetery.  Daniel and Margaret G. Flynn had charge of the arrangements.

FRANK D’ANTONI
Baltimore  Sun  -  September 3 1885

Frank D’Antoni was shot dead yesterday morning, at half-past one o’clock in a saloon  35 King street, near Eutaw Street, by Walter F. Welsh, proprietor of the saloon.  Shortly before that time five Italians, D’Antoni among them entered the saloon, where a number of persons were assembled, and in a few minutes had created such a disturbance that Welsh was obliged to put them out by force into the street.  In about ten minutes they returned by a side door from Grace’s court and advance toward Welsh. D’Antoni was in front with a stiletto, and two of the men managed to get behind Welsh, who was backing away from  the crowd.  When he at last  was cornered and D’Antonio still advanced with the stiletto in his right hand raised to strike.  Welsh dew a five-shooter double action Smith & Weston revolver, of thirty-eight caliber and fired at D’Antoni who was a few feet away. The  ball entered D’Antoni’s right eye  passing through the brain came out the  back of the skull.  He  must have died instantly.

The body  had been brought to the station house and a large number of Italians had collected there.  After the verdict  which was  self defense for Welsh the body was placed in a coffin and carried out into the yard, placed in a hearse and taken to St. Vincent Cemetery, where it was placed in a Vault, a burial certificate being obtained at the City Hall, on the way to the cemetery.

D’Antonio, was thirty-eight years old and a single man.  He lived with his mother at 38 Marion Street and kept a fruit stand at the corner of  Howard and Lombard Streets. Later in the day Dominico D’Antonio cousin  and Vincent Brocacao were arrested for assaulting Welsh.

Nic Dituri
Baltimore Sun  June 23, 1915

 Suddenly, on June 21, 1915, NIC aged 18 years  beloved son of Pete and Conetto Dituri.

Funeral will take place from his late residence No 1806 Maryland avenue on Friday at 8:30 AM thence to Corpus Christi Church where a  Requiem Mass will be said for the repose of his soul at 9AM.  Interment in St. Vincent’s Cemetery.

Editors Note: On January 1, 1891, Corpus Christi Church was consecrated. The magnificent church building was built for the wealthy community of Bolton Hill, then known as Bolton Depot.

At the death of the mother she asked children to erect a church in memory of their father, Thomas Courtney Jenkins.

Mr. Patrick H. Farrell
Baltimore American  August 13, 1908

 Mr. Patrick H. Farrell died at his late residence.  673 West Franklin street, Tuesday night as the result of Bright’s disease.  The funeral will take place from the above address Friday morning, thence to St. Pius’ Roman Catholic Church where a requiem mass will be celebrated by Rev. J. D. Boland, rector of the church.  Interment will be in St. Vincent’s Cemetery.  Mr. Farrell was a native of Ireland, but came to America with his parents as a young child.  He was a shipwright by occupation and a member of the Shipwrights’ Association .

The deceased is  survived by his widow and five  daughters Mrs. Charles Luck, Mrs. Otto Weiland, Mrs. Louis Damm,  Miss Daisy Farrell and Miss Rose Farrell.

Mrs. John T. Howard

The remains of Mrs. Margaret Howard, wife of John T. Howard, an employee of The Sun, was buried yesterday in St. Vincent’s Cemetery.  The funeral took place from her home 1064 Granby street.  Services being held at St. Vincent’s Catholic Church at 10 AM,  Rev. Hugh Curley celebrating the requiem mass.  The pallbearers  were Messrs. Lewis Knoche, John Fontier, Arthur Riebedans, Henry Freeburger, Charles Betsold, August Maulsby.  Mrs. Howard died last Monday.  She is survived by seven children.

Mrs. Mary E. McCall, 75 years old, died last night at the home of her daughter, Mrs. Samuel E. McCready, 1631 McElderry street.  The funeral will be held Saturday at St.  John’s Catholic Church, where a requiem high mass will be celebrated.
She was widely known in the neighborhood on account of her numerous charities.

Patrick, McCall

On the instant, after a long and painful illness, Patrick McCall in the 65th. year of  age, a native of the county Tyrone, Ireland but for the last 32 years a resident of Baltimore. His friends and acquaintances are invited to attend his funeral on tomorrow (Thursday) morning, at half past eight o’clock, from his late residence Eden Street near Chew.

William McGuire
Baltimore Sun   April 29 1899

 Mr. William McGuire, proprietor of the dining rooms 26 South Street, in the rear of the Bank of Commerce died Wednesday of double pneumonia. He was born in Baltimore, was in the fifty-first year of his age and a bachelor.  He lived in the place a gave close attention to his business.

Was a member of  St. Vincent de Paul Society  and had charge of special work which required looking after prisoners in the jail and penitentiary and inmates of Bayvew Asylum helping them start a good life.  To these he gave clothes and money and worked to secure employment for them.  He gave them clothes  from his own back  and died without a  complete suit good clothes for his burial.

He was also a member of the Young Catholic Friends Society and helped charity where he could saying he wished his money would go before him, so not to create quarrels  after his death..

Mr. McGuire leaves one sister Miss Kate McGuire.  Rev F.X. Brady of St. Ignatius’  Church was a good friend who visited him during his short illness.  Mr. McGuire however would  not yield  to his appeal to close his business and go to a hospital. He got out of bed and looked after his business until his condition became  such as he could not move.

The funeral will take place this morning with a solemn mass of requiem at St. Ignatius’ Church Dr. J.B. Saunders who  attended  during his illness has given him a place in his family lot in St. Vincent’s Cemetery where interment will be made.

Mr. John A. McKew
Baltimore American  January 31, 1906

The funeral of Mr. John A. McKew, who died  on last Saturday morning at his late residence, 2042 East Preston street, took place yesterday morning from St. Andrew’s Catholic Church, Monument and Washington streets, where a requiem high mass was celebrated by Rev. Thomas J. Murphy.  The sermon was delivered by Rev. P.M Manning,  pastor of the church.  The honorary pallbearers were members of the Zeta Lodge #10  Independent order of Heptasophs.  The active pallbearers were eight  lieutenants of the Baltimore City Fire Department, of which the deceased was a retired lieutenant.  The floral designs were handsome and numerous.  The interment took place in the family lot in St. Vincent’s Cemetery.  William J. Schaeffer & Son had charge of the funeral.

Mrs. Margaret Meehan
Baltimore American  August 23, 1906

The funeral of Mrs. Margaret Meehan, who died on Sunday, took place yesterday morning from her late residence 2106 Greenmount avenue.  After a brief service at the house the cortege proceeded to St. Ann’s Church, where a requiem  mass was celebrated by Rev. Thomas Lyons, assistant pastor.  The pallbearers were Messers: Miller, John Redding, John Sullivan, Patrick Meehan, Patrick McCabe, John MeGonigle, John McGinnes and Dennis McFadden.  Interment was in the family lot in St. Vincent’s Cemetery, under the direction of Evans and Spencer.

Mrs.  Mary Miller, wife of Joseph Miller,  7  W. West  Street, died yesterday morning a Mercy Hospital of a complication of diseases after an illness of about a month.  Her funeral will take place Tuesday morning  from her home; thence to St. Mary Star of the Sea Church . Rev. John T. Whelan, pastor of the church, will conduct the services.  Burial will be in St. Vincent’s Cemetery. 

Mrs. Miller is survived by her husband, three sons (John L, Joseph P and William T Miller) three daughters Mrs. Charles E. Edwards, Mrs. Robert Byrnes  and Miss Margaret Miller and one sister (Miss Margaret Dailey).

Mooney, Alice Ann

 6th Pastor of St. Vincent’s formerly of Sts. Peter and Paul Catholic Church in Cumberland, serving at St. Vincent’s Church in Baltimore for the past 14 years, died there of an illness of five months.   
    
His body could have been transferred to St. Vincent’s Church when cemetery was closed.

Mrs. Jane Agnes Pierce
Baltimore American  January 21, 1905

 Mrs. Jane Agnes Pierce, aged 83 years, wife of  the late Daniel S. Pierce,  died after a lingering illness of a general breakdown due to old age at her home 508  East Twentieth street, shortly after 7 o’clock Thursday morning.  She is survived by four daughters  (Mrs. Agnes Miles, Mrs. William Woutisseth, Miss Margaret Pierce and Miss Sadie Pierce.  The funeral will take place this morning at 9 o’clock.  Services will be conducted at St. Ann’s Catholic Church by the assistant pastor, Rev.  John E. Graham.  The pallbearers will be Messrs; Charles A. Miles, Harry M. Miles, W. Irving Horsey, William  L Woutisseth,  Frederick Gemmell and Dr. C. Hampton Jones.  Interment will be in St. Vincent’s Cemetery.

Peter Purnel
Baltimore Sun  September 25, 1896

Peter Purnel, a colored convict, died Wednesday at the Maryland penitentiary, of consumption.   He was twenty-eight  years old and was serving a sentence of six years for horse stealing.  In October 1893 he was sent to prison  from Anne Arundel county.  He worked in the shoe department.  Rev John D. Boland of St. Vincent’s Catholic Church, took charge of the body.

The funeral of J. Howard Rochfort, who died Friday at his home, 2310 Ashland avenue, will be held at 9 o’clock Tuesday from St. Andrew’s Catholic Church.Surviving are his widow an infant son, John William:  One sister, Katherine L and three brothers, John William, Albert P and Robert J. Rochfort. Burial will be in St. Vincent’s Cemetery.

The funeral of policeman Robert J. Rochefort, took place yesterday evening from his residence, 314 Albemarle street, thence to St. Leo’s Church, where a requiem mass was celebrated by Rev. J.L. Andreis.  B & C divisions of the eastern police district, under Capt B.F. Auld and Sergeants Poole, Ryan, Langley and Black, attended the funeral and acted as escort to St. Vincent’s Cemetery, where the remains were interred. The pallbearers were officers Gnau, Kissner, Ahern, Gillesple, Freeman and Thomas Kelly.
