OBITUARY
WILLIAM ALBERT
January 31, 1904

  Mr. William Albert, 61 years old, died early yesterday morning at his home, 954 North Gay street, after a brief illness of a complication of diseases. Mr. Albert was born in this city and at the outbreak of the Civil War went South and enlisted in the First South Carolina Heavy Artillery. He served with this command for three years and was then transferred to Gilmore’s Battalion, with which he remained until the close of the war. He was in the engagement at Fort Sumter, and a number of battles about the fortifications at Charleston harbor.
At the restoration of peace Mr. Albert returned to Baltimore and secured a position with the Baltimore City Passenger Railway company, and eight years later opened a café at the above residence, which business he conducted until his death.
He was a member of Joppa Lodge of Masons, the J. F. Wiessner Conclave of Heptasophs, Stoddard Lodge of the Knights of Pythias and the American Legion of Honor.
He is survived by his widow, Mrs. Sarah Albert, two daughters, the Misses Carrie and Estella Albert, and two sons, the Messrs. William C. and Walter Albert.
The funeral will take place from his residence, Wednesday. Services will be conducted by Rev. U. S. G. Rupp, pastor of the Lutheran Church of the Reformation. Interment will be made in Greenmount Cemetery.
Note: Cause of death on death certificate appears to be Intestinal Hepatitis but it is hard to read.

O'REILLY--The remains of Mrs. ROSA O'REILLY, who died February 6, 1904, will
be interred from the Mausoleum in Holy Cross Cemetery this Tuesday at 3 P.M.
NOTE: OLD HOLY CROSS CEMETERY WAS A ROMAN CATHOLIC CEMETERY LOCATED AT NORTH
AVENUE AND BROADWAY IN THE CITY OF BALTIMORE.  MEMBERS OF ST. PATRICK'S
AND ST. JOHN THE EVANGESIST PARISHES WERE THE FIRST TO USE OLD HOLY CROSS
CEMETERY. 
 
IN 1970 THE REMAINS OF THOSE BURIED AT OLD HOLY CROSS WERE MOVED TO
WOODLAWN CEMETERY, LOCATED ON LIBERTY ROAD IN BALTIMORE COUNTY. 
THE RELOCATION OF THESE REMAINS BEGAN IN MARCH OF 1970 AND ENDED IN
JUNE OF 1970. THE ORIGINAL TOMBSTONES WERE TOO BADLY DAMAGED AND WERE
NOT MOVED.
